How can we help?

Online Sales

Why hasn't my order arrived?

Orders typically ship within 24 hours of being placed but no later than 2 business days. Shipping times vary by location and shipping service selected. But if you feel that it has been longer than you anticipated, please see below.

  1. Is it a pre-order? To determine if your purchase has been released, go to the item's page in our store and make sure it doesn't say "PRE-ORDER" under the "ADD TO CART" button.

If you have an account on our site, you can log in to check the status of your order by scrolling to the bottom of the page to the "ORDERS" section. It's listed under "FULFILLMENT STATUS" for the corresponding order. You can also check the status of your order by clicking the "VIEW YOUR ORDER" button in the order confirmation email that was sent to you after purchasing.
  3. 
If you are an international customer, your item was shipped more than two weeks ago, and it has still not arrived, try contacting your local postal service. It doesn't happen often, but packages can get held up at customs. 
How much does shipping cost?

Well, it's complicated. Rates are generated based on total order weight and your postal code. Click here to check out the services available for your area and the associated starting rates.

Can I pick up my order at your warehouse?

Sorry, no. All orders must be shipped.

Will I be charged sales tax if I live in the United States?

Texas residents will be charged 8.25% sales tax.

Will I be charged duties if I live outside the United States?

You are responsible for all import taxes imposed by your country of residence. The shipping fees we charge for your order do not include duties. If you’re unsure of your country’s laws and policies, please contact your local customs office. By purchasing from us, you acknowledge that you are aware of this and accept it as your financial responsibility. Please determine what the additional costs will be (if any) prior to purchasing. We are prohibited by law from declaring ordered merchandise as “gift” on customs forms. We are not responsible for any packages held by international customs agencies. If you neglect to pick up your package and it's returned to us, we will not refund the cost of shipping. If you neglect to pick up your package and it's destroyed, we will not be able to offer you a refund at all.

What countries do you ship to?

Outside of the United States, we only ship to Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Croatia, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden, and United Kingdom.

What happens if I order something out of stock?

We work hard to prevent this from happening. However, orders will occasionally slip through that contain out-of-stock items. In these instances, we reserve the right to cancel either the out-of-stock item(s) or your entire order. We will, of course, also issue a refund to your credit card for any items we cannot ship. We will also contact you to let you know that we have modified your order.

Can I make a special request (specific book number, additional items, etc)?

We’re no longer able to do special requests due to the volume we receive for each release. It’s gotten to the point where it’s adding considerable time to our fulfillment process and causing mistakes. No exceptions. We're truly sorry.

Can I order an item packaged with one of your books separately?

If there’s an overage from the manufacturer, we will offer those items individually on eBay some point. And if so, we'll announce it via our mailing list.

Can I change or cancel my order after it is placed?

We process orders very quickly in order to ensure the fastest delivery possible. Because of this, we usually cannot change or cancel your order once it has been submitted. Please be sure to check all information very carefully before placing your order. If you discover a mistake, please contact customer service ASAP.

Can I combine orders that I placed at different times?

If the orders haven't already shipped, yes! Please contact customer service.

My order has already shipped. Can I change the delivery address?

We cannot change the shipping address for orders that have already shipped. In certain circumstances, UPS and DHL may be able change your address. However, you will need to contact them directly. Orders shipped via USPS cannot be changed.

Can I return an item I’ve purchased?

If you contact us within 30 days of the delivery date, we will process your refund or exchange. To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be returned in its original packaging. You are responsible for paying for your own shipping costs for returning the item. Return shipping costs are non-refundable. Please use a trackable shipping service and/or purchasing shipping insurance. We cannot otherwise guarantee that we will receive your item.

Where is my refund?

Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. We will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund. If you are approved, your refund will be processed and a credit will automatically be applied to your original method of payment. It may take some time before your refund is posted to your account. If you haven't received the refund within 7 business days, contact your credit card company or bank.

Can I exchange my item for something else?

We only replace items if they are defective or damaged. Please contact customer service and include photos of the damaged areas. For orders with minimal damage that has not affected the overall quality of the book (light scratches, etc.), we may ask you to cover the shipping cost of the replacement. If we are replacing an item that was numbered, please include a photo of the number.

Book Signings

Can I get something other than my book signed?

It's a book signing, right? Only book holders will be allowed to have their items signed. And no more than one additional item (record, t-shirt, etc).

How many copies of the book will be available at the event?

We generally have 200 copies for sale at each signing.

Can I bring the book that I purchased online?

Of course!

Can I pick up the book that I purchased online at the event?

Unfortunately, no. Sorry!

General

Why are all of your books limited-run?

Having shorter runs enables us to put quality over quantity and ensures that each release is truly something worth owning.

Why are your books not available at Amazon?

Selling our books direct allows us to better compensate each band or artist featured. We love music and value the artists we celebrate.

Do you offer e-books?

No. We only create physical, limited-run products.

Can I download the music from the vinyl 7" included in my book?

Yes! Once a book is out of print, we'll upload the audio to Bandcamp as well as all major streaming services.

I ordered a book with a flexi disc/vinyl 7". Where is it?

Our books actually house the records! It's inserted into a pocket located in the back cover.

I'm having trouble getting the flexi disc to play on my turntable. What gives?

Our flexi discs have a smaller center hole than traditional 7” vinyl records. This allows the flexi to grip the spindle which enables it to spin without the use of coins or other objects for additional weight. You may have to push down around the center of the disc when placing it on your turntable to slightly stretch the hole.

What speed is the Butthole Surfers flexi disc?

What? You don't have a 69 RPM setting on your record player? Give 33⅓ a shot instead.

Can we carry your books or records in our store?

I'm a journalist. Can I review your books or records?

Review copies are limited and distributed on a first-come basis. Older titles may only be available in digital form. Please visit our press section for digital assets.

Will you publish my book?

No. All of the books we release are created by Aaron Tanner exclusively.

Do I have permission to reprint content from one of your books?

Possibly. Please email office@melodicvirtue.com and specify the content you're requesting along with how it will be used.

Are you currently hiring interns?

At this time, no. However, this could change in the future. All applicants must meet the following requirements: a schedule that fits our needs, ability to work approximately 8 hrs per week, handles themselves in a professional manner around notable musicians, and are able to keep busy during downtime.
